Mercantile

Here is one unique department! Take the old-fashioned corner store and drop it into the 21st century in the Co-op, stir in lots of color and fun, and you’ll have our mercantile department. This is where you’ll find the typical kitchen needs—strainers, pot scrubbers, veggie steamers, juicers, cookie sheets, spatulas, pepper mills, and wooden bowls—but that’s just the beginning.

Our mercantile department offers a delightful and fun collection of colorful dishware, candles, incense, and music from BIMA (Bellingham Independent Music Association), Soundings of the Planet, and Putumayo World Beat. There are educational puzzles, games, and toys for kids and people who like to be kids. Straw hats to wool caps and fun and functional socks are offered year round. You can even get a yoga mat or balance ball.

Our mercantile department is dedicated to offering you as many locally produced fun items as possible. And, you’ll find a world market, too.
